Marketing Intern

Position Summary
This position reports to the Lightbox Marketing Manager and will assist the marketing department in raising awareness of IHP and Lightbox Film Center in the greater Philadelphia region. This is a terrific opportunity for a young professional interested in the inner workings of marketing and communications in a non-profit environment, with a strong focus on arts/culture, global programming, and residence life.


  • Research and Development: assisting Manager with various research projects, including developing and executing comprehensive distribution plans for printed materials and targeted outreach for a diverse selection of films and cultural events
  • Web content: posting various programmatic events to the website and to media calendars on an on-going, as-needed basis
  • Graphic design and marketing collateral: help with simple poster design, and assist Graphic Designer with photo searches, in-house printing, folding, cutting, and hanging of signage
  • Social Media: assisting in researching relevant social content
  • IHP Tabling Events: staffing IHP tables at occasional housing events
  • Other administrative duties


  • Some experience in communications, marketing or related field outside of the classroom preferably
  • Experience in a professional office environment or retail/customer service environment
  • Knowledge/experience in MS Office, Adobe Create Suite, HTML and social media platforms
  • General knowledge of marketing/communications principles
  • Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often demanding environment
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • Available to work at least 10 hours/week during the office hours of M-F, 9am-5pm



The opportunity will provide the intern with a variety of skills including nonprofit marketing, arts marketing, Adobe Creative Suite, market research, and networking. Perks include networking opportunities, complimentary tickets to select Lightbox film screenings, and occasional staff lunches.
