Lightbox Exhibition Intern

Position Summary
International House Philadelphia is seeking an Exhibition Intern to assist Lightbox Film Center in preparations for a newly curated exhibition as part of the retrospective Dream Dance: The Art of Ed Emshwiller, funded by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. The internship will run from March 2019 – October 2019. Candidates available for all or part of this time period are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities

  • Inventory/Cataloging/Reference photography of documents, books, and objects
  • Create a database/spreadsheet of catalogued objects
  • Learning about and assisting with object condition reporting
  • Tracking information on incoming loans for exhibition
  • Assist with the processing of incoming and outgoing receipts
  • Assist with prepping works for exhibition
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled at one of the area’s colleges/universities
  • Strong organizational and archival skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft office software
  • Knowledge of archival principles and practices and/or experience handling objects that are fragile and irreplaceable
  • Experience working in an archive, library, historical society, gallery, or museum preferred
  • Knowledge of collections databases and digitization methods preferred
  • A self-starter and ability to work independently
