Other Ways to Contribute

ANNUAL GIVING FAMILY OF FUNDS

IHP’s Annual Giving Family of Funds allows you to direct your gift to your choice of three specific program areas: the Arts & Culture Fund, the Residential Life Fund, or the Area of Greatest Need Fund. By making a tax-deductible contribution to the annual fund, you take an active role in supporting the vital resources and services that are integral to the success of International House, and you help us to serve our residents, members, and the Philadelphia community for generations to come.

Arts and Culture Fund

The arts are an avenue for greater cultural, political, and social understanding. Our programs unite contemporary and emerging forms with classical traditions, and showcase a unique combination of cinema, media and visual arts, and performance. We seek to broaden the horizons of International House’s residents as well as the Greater Philadelphia region’s multinational and multicultural community through our year-round art exhibitions and advocacy of artistically significant, socially relevant programs. Click here to make a donation to IHP's Arts & Culture Fund today!

Resident Life Fund

Living at International House Philadelphia brings residents together with a larger global community. Our Resident Life Office supports resident experiences in making this unique transition. Its foundation is based on utilizing experience, practical learning, and our underlying philosophy of educating our residents outside of the classroom. Whether you are an alumni, member, or patron, your support of the Resident Life Fund is valuable beyond compare in helping us welcome residents and assist in their adjustment to American culture and society.  Click here to make a donation to IHP's Resident Life Fund today!

Area of Greatest Need Fund
Your support of International House Philadelphia maintains a diverse and welcoming community for scholars from around the world and broadens the horizons of IHP residents and the Philadelphia community. When you give an unrestricted gift, IHP is able to direct your commitment to a budgeted area where support is needed the most. Click here to make a donation to IHP's Area of Greatest Need Fund today!

Resident Emergency Fund

Join IHP’s Alumni Council in supporting the recently established Resident Emergency Fund, intended to provide limited emergency financial assistance to select IHP residents on a case-by-case basis who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses due to an emergency situation such as an accident, illness, death of a family member, or fire damage, among others. This is your opportunity to help IHP provide residents with more than advice and moral support in the unfortunate case of an emergency. Let’s change this together. Make a gift today that will help a resident tomorrow. When you make a donation to the IHP Resident Emergency Fund, you help us support residents in all aspects of their residential experience, including when they encounter hard times. Every little bit helps and it is a great opportunity to make your mark on IHP, and make a direct impact on the lives of others. Click here to make a contribution to the IHP Resident Emergency Fund.

Gifts of Stock

Many donors prefer to fund their contributions through gifts of appreciated securities. Gifts of appreciated securities, which you have owned for at least six months, may be deducted for the full fair market value at the time of the gift. This deduction can be claimed provided it does not exceed 30 percent of your adjusted gross income, with a five-year carryover for any excess. No capital gains tax is levied on the appreciation.

Bequests and Planned Giving

Unlike annual gifts that are made from current income, planned gifts are usually made from capital assets. In general, planned gifts – legally committed to International House during the donor’s lifetime — are those in which you retain some personal interest, such as the right to use the property or to receive income from the gift.  International House encourages these gifts because they provide an endowment for the future.

Older friends and alumni may prefer the planned gift, or they may choose to combine a planned with an outright contribution. The most suitable kind of gift depends on the donor’s circumstances. International House will be pleased to provide any assistance you or your financial advisers require in determining how to maximize the impact of your generosity.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers at International House play a vital role in the life of the organization. They provide support for event coordination, fundraising, language classes, and fulfill important administrative needs. The Program + Events Office, Development Office, and Language Program have fun opportunities for you to lend your support in helping serve our audience members, residents, and community partners.
