International House Philadelphia invites the public to attend its Nowruz (Persian New Year) Celebration on Thursday, March 23 at 7pm. Nowruz, or "new day" in Persian, is an ancient festival that marks the beginning of spring and celebrates the rebirth of nature. Guests at this family-friendly celebration will enjoy a tasting of Middle Eastern delicacies and tea, interactive cultural activities, and authentic Persian music and dance performances, followed by a lively dance party featuring music by DJ Atash. You can also learn more about the haft seen table, which features symbolic items that are traditionally displayed at Nowruz (see photo below).
The Nowruz Celebration will be held in International House’s Ibrahim Theater, 3701 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $10 for the general public; $5 for IHP members; free for IHP residents.
