PHILADELPHIA PREMIERE
Velvet-voiced soul singer Syl Johnson struggled for decades before leaving the music business in the 1980s to open a fried fish chain in Chicago. Since then, he’s become one of the most sampled artists in hip-hop. With a lively soundtrack, this buoyant documentary celebrates one man who can’t stop the music.

Mil's Life
dir. Zach Hauptman, Short Documentary, United States, 2015, 24 min.
This short portrait tells the story of 25-year-old urban cowboy and native Philadelphian Jamil “Mil”Pratis and the symbiotic relationship between a man, his horse and their urban experience. Focusing on Mil’s undeniable passion for horses and horse racing within the context of North Philadelphia, the film uncovers the true nature of the city that shaped Mil’s character and defined his struggles.
