1986 / 35mm / Dir. James Cameron / 137 min.
James Cameron followed up his hit film THE TERMINATOR by writing and directing this sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 blockbuster, ALIEN. ALIENS opts for action and suspense rather than the “Sci-Fi Haunted House” tone of the original, but Cameron’s film is nevertheless an impressive accomplishment that equals its predecessor and established the film mythology utilized by subsequent sequels and video games. Following the events of ALIEN, lone survivor Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) agrees to accompany a battalion of marines sent to investigate the planet where her crew was decimated by a single alien organism. But when military arrogance and massive firepower prove no match for an army of aliens, it’s up to Ripley to face her fears and take command in the battle for survival!

1986 / 35mm / Dir. Stephen Herek / 82 min.
This low budget Sci-Fi comedy lifts from both 1950s era monster movies and contemporary films like GREMLINS and GHOULIES; nevertheless, it is a clever and enjoyable film in its own right that spawned a slew of sequels. Scott Grimes plays Brad, a teenager whose family farm is besieged by carnivorous creatures from outer space. Brad must team up with an outer space bounty hunter to defeat the evil invaders before they consume the entire town! Also starring Dee Wallace, who has some prior experience dealing with extraterrestrials.
