dir. Edoardo Leo, Italy, 2015, digital, 115 min., in Italian w/English subtitles

A tragic comedy based on the book Alfa Romeo 1300 and Other Miracles by Fabio Bartolomei that tells the tale of three 40-year-olds fleeing their own failure and united in the project of creating a rustic B&B in the hinterland east of Naples. The Giulia 1300 Alfa Romeo of the title is the car of a mobster who comes to ask for protection money on the trio’s increasingly successful business, accompanied by a young and eccentric pregnant girl.

This free admission film festival is made possible thanks to the support of New Italian Cinema Events (NICE).

The Cinema Studies Program and the Center for Italian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, in collaboration with International House Philadelphia, present the 2016 edition of New Italian Cinema. The festival has been curated by Nicola M. Gentili (Penn, Cinema Studies) and aims at presenting very recently released Italian feature films.
