David is 36 and still dreams of becoming a novelist while working in a household products company as communication manager. Marcello is a clever trickster who swindles David and steals everything he has, ruining his life. David loses his money, his car, his girlfriend and gets fired from his job. With his life turned upside down, David decides to run after Marcello but, when he finally finds him, instead of pursuing his revenge, he is fascinated by Marcello’s lifestyle and the two pair up. This odd couple, between quarrels and complicity, find hilarious and unpredictable adventures.

This free admission film festival is made possible thanks to the support of New Italian Cinema Events (NICE).

The Cinema Studies Program and the Center for Italian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, in collaboration with International House Philadelphia, present the 2016 edition of New Italian Cinema. The festival has been curated by Nicola M. Gentili (Penn, Cinema Studies) and aims at presenting very recently released Italian feature films.
