Wilmington 10—USA 10,000

United States, 1979, 119 min.
Dir. Haile Gerima
Using the Wilmington 10 political prisoner case of 1971 as a departure point, this film examines political prisoners in the USA, broader international issues of human rights, the criminal justice system, and racial oppression. With conversation with Ben Chavis, the rest of the Wilmington 10 and their parents, Assata Shakur and other activists and elders in Wilmington, and an original soundtrack by Sweet Honey in the Rock, Wilmington 10–USA 10,000 was clearly made through the collaboration of community members and filmmakers.
