dir. Mike Figgis, UK/Italy, 2001, digital, 93 min.

Penn Cinema and Media Studies is proud to welcome Director Mike Figgis (two-time Academy Award nominee (Leaving Las Vegas - best director and writer/adapted screenplay) to International House Philadelphia to present and discuss for his film, HOTEL, a bold improvisational work featuring an all-star international cast.

The plot revolves around a British film crew that is shooting a version of The Duchess Of Malfi in Venice. They, in turn, are being filmed by a self-professed Dogme-style documentary crew led by a petulant primadonna director, while the strange staff share meals consisting of human meat. Then there is the hit man, the call girl and the Hollywood producer all managing to become part of the madness in this darkly humorous stew of sex, murder, cannibalism and movie egomania.

In addition to this screening, Mr. Figgis will present his film, Red, White & Blues on Wednesday, March 1 at 7pm at the Harold Prince Theatre @Annenberg Center - Penn Campus. This event is also a free screening. RSVPs requested with seating on a first come basis.  Click here  for more info and to RSVP.
