Vientiane Café

4728 Baltimore Avenue

Philadelphia, PA 19143

International House Philadelphia and the Board of Delegates cordially invite you for an evening of Culture and Cuisine to meet and share a meal with IHP residents and friends from around the world in an intimate setting on Tuesday, January 24 at 6:30pm.

Join us for an authentic Lao-Thai fusion meal and conversation with Chef Sunny Phanthavong. Sunny will share the story of her family’s restaurant, formally established in 2002 after starting as the “Blue Tarp” in the backyard of their family home, and her parent’s immigration from Laos as refugees in the early 1980s. She’ll also explain the differences between Thai and Lao cuisine, and will educate guests on customs surrounding food culture in Southeast Asia.

The restaurant is BYOB, so please bring your beverage of choice to enjoy with the meal. The price is $45 per person ($40 for IHP Members) and includes the buffet menu, presentation, and gratuity.

The restaurant is conveniently located on Baltimore Avenue. The PPA offers a free municipal parking lot next door to the restaurant at 4716-23 Baltimore Avenue, where parking spots are subject to availability. There are two entrances to this lot: one is off of Baltimore Avenue, and the other is on Warrington Avenue next to Vietnam Cafe. Both entrances are between 47th and 48th streets. There is also free street parking available. You can also take the 34 Trolley from Center City, which stops half a block away at 48th Street and Baltimore Ave.
