International House Philadelphia and the Board of Delegates cordially invite you for an evening of Culture & Cuisine, to meet and share a meal with IHP residents and friends from around the world in an intimate setting on Tuesday, April 5th at 6:30 pm.


Brauhaus Schmitz, located at 718 South Street, is an authentic German restaurant and beer hall that has transformed the way that Philadelphians look at German food and drink. Philadelphia magazine has honored Brauhaus Schmitz with three “Best of” titles in their annual “Best of Philly” issues, and The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Craig LaBan wrote that Brauhaus Schmitz delivers "the satisfaction of Philly’s German tradition come alive again.”  




Your choice of soup or salad:

  • Gulaschsuppe - A hearty Hungarian beef stew. Braised beef, potatoes, spicy paprika, and red wine
  • Frischer Haussalat - Mixed greens, carrot, radish, tomato, corn, shallot, and house made mustard shallot dressing


Hauptspeise (Entrees served family-style on large platters with bowls of Kartoffelsalat, Rotkohl, Spatzle and Sauerkraut):

  • Wurstplatte - Assortment of Weißwurst, and our housemade Bratwurst and Bauernwurst
  • Sauerbraten - Beef rump roast marinated in red wine and vinegar with ginger snap gravy


Nachtisch (choice of one dessert):

  • Apfelstrudel - Layers of flaky dough filled with spiced apple
  • Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte - A chocolate cake with layers of Kirschwasser soaked cherries


The price is $40 per person ($35 for IHP Members) for the pre-set menu, including tax and gratuity. A cash bar is also available, featuring some of the best brews Germany has to offer.
