Dir. Kirsten Johnson, USA, 2016, 103 min.

With director Kirsten Johnson in person!

A New York Times critic's pick for one of the 10 best films of 2016.  After decades working with some of the best documentary filmmakers in the world, cinematographer Kirsten Johnson turns the camera on herself in this bold, visual memoir exploring the power of the camera itself. Johnson uses footage from her long career to create an elegant meditation on the relationship between storytelling and the camera frame.

Kirsten Johnson has worked as a documentary cinematographer and director, committing her lifework to human rights issues and visual creativity. She has been principal cinematographer on over 40 feature-length documentaries, including Citizenfour, Fahrenheit 9/11, and Trapped.
