Israeli JazzPhest closes with the North American debut concert of Ayala Ingedeshet

Born in Ethiopia, Ayala Ingedeshet arrived in Israel at age two. Ayala did her military service as a soloist in the Navy band, making her the first Ethiopian singer to serve in a military music band. After service, Ayala became an actress, performing at Habima: the National Theatre of Israel and the Cameri. In 2006, she met the producer Roy Edri, and together they had created her first CD entitled, Ayala. With the release of her CD, she became the first Ethiopian-born Israeli singer with a major-label deal. She has since achieved popularity and is performing with acts like Ehud Banai, Mosh Ben-Ari, Jill Scott, and Macy Gray. Last year, Ayala released “Flesh and Blood”, a song she wrote together with Tomer Yosef (Balkan Beat Box) to protest racism against Ethiopians. Ayala is presently working on her second CD.
