Red Bone Guerillas
Directed by Pierre Bennu
USA, 2003, 103 min.
It's about art, revolution, and talk shows. An experimental, improvised narrative shot in 2002, Red Bone Guerrillas chronicles what happens when fictional filmmaker Bonita Evans sets out to document acting legend Magenta Bergenstein, and stumbles upon the beginnings of the counterculture performance art group, the Red Bone Guerillas. What results is an inside look at the group’s meteoric rise to prominence as they rage against the mainstream media machine. Part documentary, part soap opera, part tragicomedy, Red Bone Guerrillas is a true story about people who don't exist.
