TONIGHT: Resurrect Dead Premieres!
Thursday, September 8, 2011 – As you hopefully already know via our website, Facebook, or the raft of press attention it’s been getting, Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles premieres tonight. Tickets are going fast and will definitely sell out at the door, but we have some left for Saturday’s, Sunday’s, and Monday’s screenings.
Here’s the City Paper’s and Weekly‘s takes. Here’s the PW cover story on the film and the saga of Director Jon Foy at Sundance, where he won for Best Director of a Documentary, from February.
A little out-of-town rag called the New York Times gives the film an “NYT Critics’ Pick” here. “As they hit leads and stumbling blocks, Mr. Foy’s moody score and dexterous editing accentuate the mystery. Though their quarry eventually appears to be a model of paranoia and prejudice, it’s the thrill of the hunt that keeps “Resurrect Dead” compelling.”
The AV Club Philly has a longer interview with Foy and and star Colin Smith here (contains mild spoilers about what the film does and doesn’t get to the bottom of). Foy also takes part in a great interview at Philly Magazine here, in which he talks about his day jobs cleaning houses and doing scary medical experiments.
Tickets for all the showings of the film are here.
